One of the most common problem that I encounter whenever I try to teach a new player how to effectively farm is that they don’t use FOODS. They find it too expensive to use foods probably because they think they HAVE TO BUY IT.
Using +20 FOODS is a MUST when farming. This makes your farming more efficient. You can MAKE YOUR OWN +20 Foods which would be less expensive than buying it from other players. You don’t really need to use all +20 Stat Foods just use the two basic ones, Dex and Int.
What do I need to make my own +20 Foods?
- A level 175 Genetic.
Mix Cooking Skill Level 2 (Genetic Skill).
Discount Level 10 (Merchant Skill).
Enlarge Weight Limit Level 10 (Merchant Skill).

Advice and Notes from the Author:
- Each ingredient costs 760 zeny except for Blue Herbs, White Herbs and Red Herbs.
- Red Herbs (13z each) can be bought from the Pet Store NPC in MOA (/navi turbo_room 92 125)
- Blue Herbs and White Herbs are obtained from monsters.
- I myself only use +20 Dex and +20 Int whenever I farm.
- I use the other +20 Foods (Str, Vit, Luk) during WOE, Endless Tower, Boss Instance
- +20 Agi is a luxury food (meaning expensive food) so I don’t recommend that you use it when you are just starting out.
- The stats used is for 50% yield of +20 Foods meaning if you used 1000pcs Melange Pots you can make 500pcs +20 Foods from it.

Vendors usually sells +20 Foods around 20k-30k zeny a piece which is twice or thrice its actual cost when you make them yourselves. I highly recommend that you create your own food since it's cheaper.
Another benefit of having a Genetic as you first “farmer job” is that they can also create your own healing items.

The total cost of creating Concentrated Ceromarin Soup using the number of ingredients in the table above is 571, 000 zeny and it yields 500 pcs of Concentrated Ceromarin Soup. This would mean that 1 Concentrated Ceromarin Soup costs 1142 z to make.
Another Healing Item that a Genetic can create is the Vitata 500. I consider this as a “luxury healing item” since some of the ingredients needed for creating the Vitata 500 will require you to farm it from monsters. I recommend that you find an alternative SP Healing item in the beginning since Vitata 500 might be quite expensive.
